Does the portInUse rule work for any port, or only port 3000?

Any port. The rule triggers on the string EADDRINUSE appearing in a service’s log output, regardless of port number. The $PORT variable is extracted from the log line at runtime, so the same rule handles port 3000, 5432, 8080, or any other.

Is it safe to automatically kill a port? What if another important process is using it?

The killPort action is scoped to the port number in the log line, and Agata Stack uses a native port-group killer rather than a bare kill command. That said, the rule only fires on log output from services you have explicitly added to Agata Stack — it cannot trigger on processes it does not manage.

Can I test the rule without waiting for EADDRINUSE to happen?

Yes. The StreamRuleEngine exposes a testRule method accessible from the settings sandbox. You can also use the debug API endpoint to inject a synthetic log line that contains EADDRINUSE and watch the rule evaluate against it in the activity buffer.

What happens if the restart also fails?

The stream rule fires once per match (subject to cooldown). If the restart fails, DiagnosticService independently pattern-matches the last 20 log lines and surfaces a one-click fix command. The auto-restart and the diagnostic are complementary layers, not alternatives.

Does Agata Stack require a subscription or account?

No. It is a one-time purchase with a 7-day free trial. No account is needed. All data stays on your Mac — nothing is uploaded and there is no telemetry.
